about the song

The explosive pop track KUSJE was written by Dolly in collaboration with New York producer ABSRDST, who has been hailed as ‘dance music’s best kept secret’, producing for the likes of Dorian Electra and Diveo.

KUSJE(a playful Dutch title meaning ‘little kiss’) is what DOLLY describes as a “deadly sexy radio-hit-club-banger”, taking loose inspiration from the boppy vibes of 2000s era Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. The track is both light-hearted and sensual, while also carrying a potent message about our ‘hardstyle cyberlife’ - something which seems particularly pertinent in current times. KUSJE is about online love and how to make the fantasies on the screen and the pleasures in the phone come true” explains DOLLY “based on my own real experience of taking a plane across the world to reach a lover.”

With its rhythmic, rushing sighs, nasty giggles and a filthy, sticky beat, DOLLY takes us on a deeply physical journey throughout the song; “it radiates tease, sex, exhibitionism and temptation beyond the digital limitations of the internet.”

about the video

The video introduces the viewer to DOLLY’s futuristic ‘Battle Angel World’, inspired by the dystopian universes of Mad Max and Tank Girl. We meet a sword-wielding DOLLY in a post-apocalyptic (post-corona) world, where only the most flamboyant creatures have survived. “They are the new diamonds to shine between dust, waste, scrap and the ruins of a lost society” says DOLLY, “They are the creatures of hope, breaking with the rule of technology and industry, celebrating and battling for the beauty of the sexual, physical, colorful and queer.”

The video was created by Antwerp legend, Kyky Kong Kong, who said: “DOLLY encapsulates all that is future and past in one real, tactile being from flesh and blood, but who actually looks like she’s from a higher order, genetically modified or a semi-cyborg. To me DOLLY symbolizes a new era, so I wanted to show her off as a shining battle goddess rising from disaster and bringing spark to a lost world.”

The video feels especially poignant right now, as DOLLY explains: “In the light of the current ‘Corona-pocalypse’ and lockdown-crisis, the video shows how, after the end of the old mechanism and the (maybe desired?) destruction of an already sick world, brilliant diamonds are still dancing and shimmering between the wreckage in the wasteland. They are like swords: they get stronger in the purge of the fire. Nothing is lost by the fall of a civilization and the death of its capitalist ratrace routines: more freedom is gained for what already escaped its suffocating loop-holes.”

I dedicate this song to you, sweet Andrew, because it wouldn't exist without you

ABOUT THE SONG

‘We loved with a love that was more than love, my killer, and I his Dolly ..’, sings a sweet cupid in agony, the shimmery popstar DOLLY BING BING. She commands horrific actions from a fake position of subordination - ‘eat me, feed me, beat me, rape me’ – dropping them as twinkling stars and casting them out as tender love spells, with sugary innocence, in a seemingly light-hearted and delicately burbling popscore. The gentle kitsch builds up to painful tension and topples over into slight operatic coloratura leaps, hiding Edgar Allan Poe’s poem ‘Annabel Lee’ in its lyrical folds, opening up a darker space of candied horror, sex, pleasure and pain.

ABOUT THE VIDEO

With cinematic allure, clever drone shots, trippy flash backs, wild snippets of tragic prophecies and catastrophic psychedelic moshing transitions, Dolly’s video plays with the cruel waves between desire and death, bondage and battle, arcadia and madness, eventually dissolving into the calming sand of a faraway Poe-like ‘kingdom by the sea’. Dolly transforms through her looks and attributes, from black latex stiletto’s sinking in the sounding waves, through golden tears, along a running angel (‘a winged cherub of heaven’) on a beach of solitude, to a chained up flaming goddess struggling and falling, over flowers and plastic, into a Disney diva with lunatic Dopey faces. Dolly’s EAT ME is a shiny fairytale of love and loss, jumping from wacky moments to surprisingly sublime images that go through marrow and bone.

Lyrics

Written by DOLLY BING BING, dedicated to one of her poetical heroes, the one and only macabre writer of horror and clood clotting love EDGAR ALLAN POE:

Eat me

Feed me

Beat me

Rape me

Tie me down

Be my limits

Push me down

Break my spirit

Eat me

Feed me

Beat me

Rape me

Tie me down

Be my limits

Push me down

Break my spirit

We loved

With a love that was more than love

My killer

And I his DollEE

We loved

With a love that was more than love

We’re a kingdom By the sea

We loved

With a love that was more than love

We’re the salt

Of the sounding sea

With a love

That the winged cherubs of heaven

Coveted Him and me

Lyrics

written by DOLLY BING BING

As an ancient Grecian lament in response to her dying husband,

inspired by Rainer Maria Rilke's Duino Elegies

BEAUTY

Beauty is nothing

But the beginning of terror

But the abyss of growth

That we barely endure

Giving birth to my child

Gave me back to this beauty

Gave me back to my youth

Made me cut off my virtues

Come to the angelic orders

Come to the angelic orders

Come to the angelic orders

To the end of all borders

I've learned to live without fear

Cause there's no time for its pain

I always do what I say

I'm hard for me, I don't care

Don't give a fuck, I don't spare

Cause I've got nothing to loose

I already saw truth

I saw a stronger existence

I lost nearness and distance

I saw temples and duty

I saw angels and beauty

I saw angels and beauty

Every angel is terror

Every danger is space

Every space is a letter

Sending kisses and spirits

Clinging whispers and ringing

Who, if we sing

Would hear the sateless, the aching

The ruthless depths of our longing

The call for blood and for offspring

Who, if we cry

Would help us see through our wars

Would help the female hard core

Would rhyme the bells to restore

Sickness and readiness

Death in the hallway

Breath in machines

On the brink of our days

Juices and heartaches

Sex is the shelter

No teardrops, no heartbreaks

Just calmness, disdain

Figs, fire fountains

Panthers and urns

Oil and white columns

Ruins and spears

Sandals and wings

Honey and shields

Volcanoes and fields

Of tongues and carved stones

Of rattles and bones

Of smoke and of grief

Of fingers and leaf

Of laurel and green

Of incense and beans

Of seeds and of sperm

Of shimmer and germs

Of dust and black vases

Of wax painted faces

Of sintering clay

Of wood and of hay

Of sphinxes and pearls

Of laments of girls

Of bottoms and booties

Of depths and of beauty

Come to the angelic orders

Come to the angelic orders

Come to the angelic orders

To the end of all borders
